Violet’s Story
12th of April 2025 - the day we heard the words that changed our lives forever: “Your daughter is in diabetic ketoacidosis. She has Type 1 Diabetes.” At just 14 months old, our little girl became a survivor and a fighter in a way no child ever should have to.
In the days leading up to her diagnosis, something didn’t feel right. She was exhausted, constantly thirsty, wetting through her nappies within an hour, and completely uninterested in playing - all she wanted was to be held. On day 4 of these symptoms I took her to the GP, where we were told it was likely a virus and to monitor her for a couple more days. But the next morning, as soon as she woke up, every instinct in me knew something was seriously wrong. I didn’t wait - I took her straight to urgent care, and that decision changed everything.
Since that day, our world has been filled with blood sugar checks, pump site changes every 3 days, continuous glucose monitor sensor changes every 10 days, alarms, and constant decision-making. Type 1 Diabetes doesn’t stop, and neither does she. She faces each day with courage and strength far beyond her years, and we are endlessly proud of her. We’re walking to raise awareness, support research, and stand alongside every family walking this same path - hoping for a future where children like our daughter no longer have to fight this battle.

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
