Host a One Walk event

Your local community could play a part in the world's #1 fundraising event for families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Be part of something extraordinary. Become a 2027 One Walk community host.

One Walk is expanding, and we're keen to bring an event to as many Australians impacted by T1D as possible! But we need help from the community to do so.

By becoming a regional host, you could help us reach even more people in the T1D community and raise funds to accelerate life-changing research while you're at it!

Regional One Walk hosts or Small Regional Committees receive personalised support from our community fundraising team and a variety of resources to help make the event a big success.

Read on to find out more about the role, and express your interest.

Host responsibilities

Here's what's involved in hosting a One Walk event...

Spread the word

Promote your event around the community (schools, sports clubs, and local businesses) with our supplied posters, and use our social media templates to raise awareness online.

Add some fun

Plan classic games and activities like face painting, an egg-and-spoon race, tug-o-war, or a three-legged race. Participants love getting competitive when they return from their walk!

Get local support

Ask nearby businesses to sponsor your event or donate food, drinks, or raffle prizes. We’ll provide you with a letter of authority to help.

Handle donations

Collect and securely submit all donations made toward a world without T1D, keeping clear records and following the approved process.

Distribute fundraiser incentives

Fundraisers can claim a lanyard after raising $50, a drink bottle and sticker sheet at $100, and a tote bag at $250. You’ll hand these out to eligible attendees.

Make some noise

With our support, reach out to your local newspaper or radio station to share your story. Visit the One Walk Resources page for a media release.
