Walking for Claire

On th 21st of February 2025 our world came crashing down when our baby girl Claire was rushed to the emergency department at the hospital as we were told that she had type 1 diabetes. Then flown out on flying doctors to Cairns. 
Disbelief, shock, denial, the world fell from underneath us. With no understanding at the time, no concept of how deadly living with this condition would be, how all consuming living with type 1 diabetes would be, how life would never be the same again for any of us. 
Theres so much I’d like to say but I can’t find the words. I wanted to acknowledge the milestone of reaching our first year living with this disease and celebrate how strong, resilient and brave our beautiful Claire is. I am so proud of her and how she has taken this life altering condition all in her stride and is thriving, she is a total diabadass 🩷

I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Cairns!

I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at the Fred Moule Pavilion, Cairns Showgrounds, this March!

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
