Walk With Me to Help Find a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes

In 2022, my life changed in a way I never expected.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after experiencing severe DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis). It was frightening, overwhelming, and something I’ll never forget. One moment, life felt normal—and the next, I was facing a serious condition that I now have to manage every single day.

Type 1 diabetes doesn’t take a break. It’s constant. It means checking blood sugar levels, thinking about food differently, and always being aware of how my body is feeling. It’s something that stays with me 24/7.

That experience is the reason I’m taking part in a fundraising walk to support Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF)—an organization working toward better treatments and, one day, a cure.

I’m walking not just for myself, but for everyone living with Type 1 diabetes—for the people who know how hard it can be, and for those who may face this diagnosis in the future.

But I can’t do this alone.

I’m asking for your support. Donations of any size can make a real difference. The funds raised go toward critical research, improved technology, and support for people navigating life with Type 1 diabetes.

How you can help:

  • Donate if you’re able
  • Share this post with others
  • Support me as I take on this challenge

This walk is more than just steps—it’s about turning something scary into something meaningful. It’s about hope. It’s about progress. And it’s about believing that one day, there will be a cure.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting me in any way you can.

Let’s take steps toward a cure—together.

I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Adelaide!

I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Wigley Reserve this March!

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

Please support my walk today.
