Walking for my teen son, Leonardo.
Decided to do this marathon to surprise my son to show him what i did for him that day!
My only child was diagnosed with T1 just before he started Highschool.
My wish is for my son, Leonardo, to be able to have moments of joy and creating family memories with me and his dad as he is our only child!
As a family we have had many challenges and overwhelming times since his diagnosis it has been a rollercoaster like no other! I need plenty of strength to everyday to ensure my son is managing his diabetes well, something that it still challenging for a 14 year old.
When i feel overwhelmed i try to remember to do one thing at time. And since his diagnosis on the 26th December 2023, it was a very big shock and extremely worried how fast this had impacted his health leaving him so unwell we brought in the new year of 2024 by his side at royal north shore hospital. My son will be 15 next week and i hope he knows everyday how much he is loved, cared and supported by his mum!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at St Luke's Park North, Concord, this May!
Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
