I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Newcastle!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Thomas H Holton Park Playground this March!
Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
As most of you may know, I have been living with Type 1 diabetes for almost 30 years! It is a life time of highs and lows (literally!), multiple injections, finger pricking, insulin pump changes, failures and celebrations!
I have also worked and volunteered (as a patient and as scientific Researcher) in Diabetes Clinical trials, and I know how much Research can do for e 1 diabetes, from new technologies and medication, to potentially finding the cure (yes, I do believe Diabetes will be cured one day!!!)
Please support my walk today.
