I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Moreton Bay!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Sweeney Reserve this March! Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
My strong, brave, beautiful mother has battled type 1 diabetes for 40 years. I’m doing this for her and for those who have to battle this disease every day of their lives.
Diabetics not only suffer from the disease itself but may complications that can occur along with the diagnosis (whether directly caused by it or not) Just in the last 5 years my Mother, only in her 50s has experience vision loss, eye surgeries, diabetic neuropathy, shingles, and most recently skin cancer.
I admire her strength and all those with this life altering disease.
Please support my walk today. Let’s do it for those who can’t.
