I'm walking for Jay

The why...

For those of you who know Jay, you will see a strong, capable young person working towards their dream.  And that is a true representation.  But what you don't see is the effort they put in EVERY MOMENT of the day to keep them healthy.  Carb counting is instinctive now but it doesn't take away from the hundreds of decisions they have to make just to keep living.

Am I okay to drive?  Play sport?  Get on the train?  Do I have insulin?  Hypo snacks?  Why is my CGM not working?

I am in awe of Jay.  But I wish with every fibre of my being that this was something in the past.  I desperately want to say things like "Remember when you used to have to monitor your levels" or "You used to be so funny when you had low blood sugar".

I can't fix it.  And I hate that.  So I do what I can and in March... that is walking.  Every step is one step closer.

I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes this March!

I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event virtually this March! That means I'm walking 140,000 steps from 1-31 March 2026 for the 140,000+ Australians living with T1D.

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

Please support my walk today.
