Research is really getting exciting!!

On March 22, our family will be walking 5km for the Breakthrough T1D One Walk in Glenelg, and we’d love you to come along and walk with us!

Right now in Australia there are incredible breakthroughs happening in research and clinical trials, made possible through funding from Breakthrough T1D and the support of everyone.

One area we’re particularly excited about is cell therapies and islet transplantation. More than 100 Australians with T1D have already received islet transplants, and many have become insulin independent for over five years. 
Researchers are currently working on ways to protect these transplanted cells from the immune system so that immunosuppressants are not required. 
This research could result in a total game changer for the futue of t1d. We are excited by this!! 

Events like One Walk help fund this research and bring the T1D community together.

I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Adelaide!

I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Wigley Reserve this March!

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
