I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Brisbane!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Roma St Parklands this March!
Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
Please support my walk today.

Am sorry to hear about Lily's diagnosis. She is incredibly lucky though to have such an educated, loving and super supportive family that will help her through the challenges of type 1 diabetes. It is a horrible disease. I myself have type 2 diabetes, and constantly struggle with hypo's (low blood sugars) to the point of collapsing and striking my head one night on a metal frame of a sliding door ending up with a nasty gash requiring stitches but also a eight days in hospital with a bleed on in my brain from it. I don't know how many hours I was unconscious for, by the amount of blood on the carpet and blinds it was some time, before I came around by myself. Diabetes is a serious condition, and shouldn't be taken lightly. Thankfully Lily has an amazing support team, I know that she will learn to maintain her diabetes well, and also be able to help educate others to learn about it as well. The more awareness and research that we can all join in helping move forward to hopefully finding a cure for it very soon. As needle sticks are a pain, especially for our kids. Best wishes Team Lilly. Love always Leisa xoxo
