I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Sydney!
This March, I’m joining the world’s largest Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Rhodes Foreshore Park.
I’m doing this not only to help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, but because this cause is incredibly close to my heart.
As a teacher, I see firsthand how many young people are bravely living with diabetes every single day. I watch my students manage something that never takes a break - making constant decisions just to stay safe, healthy, and well enough to learn, play, and be kids. Their strength and resilience inspire me more than words can say.
This walk is also for my family, who are living with different types of diabetes. It’s frightening at times, exhausting, and relentless - yet they face it with courage, determination, and grace every single day. Diabetes doesn’t discriminate. It can strike anyone, at any time. In Australia alone, 8 people are diagnosed with T1D every day, and a diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no days off and around 180 extra decisions daily just to survive.
I’m walking to support my students, my family, and every person living with diabetes - to stand beside them, advocate for them, and remind them they are not alone. They are incredibly strong, and this is my way of being there for them when I can.
Please consider supporting my walk today. Every donation helps fund vital research and brings us closer to a future where Type 1 becomes Type NONE.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity ?
