I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Illawarra!
Life was normal… until one day, it wasn’t. Seemingly out of the blue, with no family history, a week before Rogue’s 9th birthday, Type 1 entered the chat, and our life as we knew it changed forever. We spent that birthday in hospital. We went from from never having a needle in Rogue’s life, to having one before every time we’d eat , one when we woke up, one before we slept and sometimes one for no reason at all, other than to supply Rogues body with the insulin , that for unknown reasons, her own little body, could no longer produce. We went from never thinking about what’s in a meal, to having to strictly account for every carb, or risk getting deathly ill. Checking our blood sugar via finger pricks for around the clock management, and now via a Dexcom (thank you modern technology) medical appointments, endocrinologist appointments and a whole other heap of crazy that comes with this relentless, lifelong condition.
Currently; there is no cure for Type 1 diabetes , but every day doctors, scientists , specialists are working around the clock to make that happen. So this year, we’re raising money to help them. Please support my walk, and help me turn Type 1 into Type NONE!
