I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Melbourne!
I’m once again joining the world’s largest fundraising event for type one diabetes to fund life changing (and life saving) research. This March I’ll be participating in Breakthroughs One Walk at south beach reserve!
At 18 months old I was diagnosed with type one diabetes (T1D) a relentless, life-long condition that never takes a break. T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means every single day is filled with constant blood sugar checks, insulin injections, carb and insulin calculations and fear of dangerous highs and lows. There are no days off, no cure, and no pause button. The ongoing mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion of staying alive affects everything from sleep, work, school to your mental health and the weight of that responsibility is carried quietly every day. I’m fundraising to support research, better treatments and hope for a future where no one has to live under the constant pressure and uncertainty that type one diabetes brings.
Any kind of support is immensely appreciated no matter the size! Thank you for supporting my cause :)
