About Me
Hi, my name is Matilda and I’m 10 years old. I live with Type 1 diabetes, but that doesn’t stop me from being me! I love playing netball, spending time with my animals, and hanging out with my friends. I try to live life just like any other kid my age — I just have a few extra challenges along the way.
Type 1 diabetes is a condition where my body can’t make insulin, which means I have to check my blood sugar levels many times every day and take insulin throughout the day to stay healthy. I have to be careful about what I eat, plan ahead for sport and school, and sometimes stop what I’m doing to take care of my diabetes. It can be tiring and frustrating, but unfortunately it is an illness that will never go away.
I’m fundraising to help support diabetes research and resources for kids like me, so we can have better treatments, more understanding, and a brighter future. Thank you so much for supporting me and helping make a difference 💙
I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Yeppoon!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Yeppoon Beachfront this March!Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
