We're walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Melbourne!
We are joining the world’s largest fundraising event for Type 1 diabetes to fund life changing (and lifesaving) research. This March we will be participating in Breakthroughs One Walk at south beach reserve to help raise $1.1 million for life- changing T1D research and ultimately turn Type 1 into Type NONE.
At the young age of 2, our little girl Mia was diagnosed with type one diabetes (T1D), a relentless, life-long condition that never takes a break. T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means 24/7 fight with no break. Every single day is filled with constant blood sugar checks, insulin injections, carb and insulin calculations and fear of dangerous highs and lows, and extra decisions a day to remain safe and healthy. There are no days off, no cure, and no pause button. The ongoing mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion of staying alive affects everything from sleep, work, school, play to mental health, and the weight of that responsibility is carried quietly every day. We’re fundraising to support research, better treatments and the hope for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, so that no one has to live under the constant pressure and uncertainty that Type 1 Diabetes brings.
Any kind of support is immensely appreciated no matter the
size!
