I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Newcastle!

This march my family and I are stepping up and taking on the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Thomas H Holton Park Playground

Why? To help raise funds for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

I received the shocking diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. Since then, every single day has looked different. T1D isn’t something you switch off or take a break from it’s a 24/7 condition that requires constant monitoring, planning, and resilience. From counting carbs and managing blood sugars to carrying the emotional weight that comes with it, it has impacted every part of my life in ways I never imagined.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

Through it all, my faith has been my anchor. I’ve learned to lean on God for strength, guidance, and hope trusting that He walks with me through every challenge, big or small. While T1D is a daily battle, I know I am never alone, and I pray that every step we take in this walk brings us closer to a cure and gives hope to everyone affected by this relentless condition.
