I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Canberra!

Hi! My name is Maya and I’m 6. I want to tell you about something super special that’s happening soon… One Walk Breakthrough T1D in Canberra!

What’s One Walk?

It’s a big, happy walk where lots of people come together to celebrate kids (and grown-ups like my DAD!) with type 1 diabetes. That means people like me! We walk to raise money so scientists can make better things to help us and one day a cure.

Why I’m Excited

I can’t wait because there’s always music, cheering, and heaps of friendly people. Last time I went, I saw dogs and got balloons. This year I’m bringing my super-fast walking shoes! My mum says I walk so fast! 

Who Can Come?

Everyone!
You can walk with your family, your friends, your school buddies, even your dog (if it listens better than mine does). You don’t have to have diabetes to come you and enjoy the day with us!

What the Day Will Feel Like

It’s going to be fun and colourful and a little bit silly. We all walk together, and when you finish, it feels like you’re a hero who helped make the world better. Even if your legs are tired.

Why It Matters

When you join One Walk, you’re helping kids like me have better medicine, better tools, and more hope. That’s really important. And it makes me feel like I have a whole team behind me.
