I'm walking for Nalani

We are walking for Nalani

On the 14 of January 2026 Nalani was unexpectedly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes after being rushed to emergency unwell.

We had no idea how ill she was until we got there, with her symptoms only being the increase in the amount she was drinking and weeing.

After a hospital stay to stable her blood sugar, ketones and a lot of education we were able to come home 48 hours later with an insulin pump and sensor which she will need for life.

She is now insulin dependent.

We have alot of appointments ahead of us and still a lot of learning but we are getting and taking the new normal in our stride.

We are walking to hope she won't have to live with it for the rest of her life.

Never thought we would be tackling a diagnosis like this.

Please donate or walk with us on 1 March at Rond Terrace.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Like it did us.

Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
