We walk for Zoe

Our family is taking part in One Walk with Breakthrough T1D because type 1 diabetes became part of our lives when our daughter Zoe was diagnosed, and it changed our world overnight.

For Zoe, type 1 is something she carries with her every moment of every day. It means constant monitoring, managing her pump, regular site and sensor changes, and living with the beeps, alarms, and numbers that follow her day and night. It affects how she eats, plays, learns, sleeps, and plans her day. It can mean stopping to treat a low when she just wants to keep playing, or pushing through the frustration of highs, fatigue, and the constant interruptions that come with managing something most people never see.

Type 1 does not just affect Zoe. It touches our whole family. It means broken sleep, careful planning, and the quiet, constant worry that never fully switches off. Like so many families living with type 1, we do our best to carry the load together while making sure Zoe can still feel like a carefree, confident, and happy kid.

We are walking to support vital research, better treatments, and ultimately a cure, so that Zoe and others living with type 1 can look forward to a future with fewer burdens, fewer alarms, and more freedom.

I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Townsville!

I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at The Parade Ground this March!

Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.

T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
