Help please
At just 6 years old, I know too much about diabetes than I should. Why? Because my big sister has type 1 diabetes. I am a curious kid and I ask a lot of questions about it. I know my sister needs to give herself insulin injections every time she eats. I hear alarms going off all the time and I know it means my sister's blood sugars are too high or too low. I see my mom and my sister getting stressed out about it. I worry too. I know that my sister can get very, very sick if they don't get the amounts of insulin correct. I have spent MANY days visiting my sister in hospital, going to the hospital with my mom and sister for so many appointments and let me tell you...it is not fun! I have learned to be patient because I know they are trying to help my sister stay healthy. I have to get tested too, because I am at risk of also getting type 1 diabetes. I really don't want to have blood tests to check me, but I know I have to because it could save me from getting too sick if I also get diabetes.I love my big sister and I know that scientists need $$ to continue working hard to find a cure. A cure would mean a lot to my family. Can you please donate? It is for a good cause.
I'm walking for a world without type 1 diabetes in Gold Coast!
I'm joining the world's largest type 1 diabetes (T1D) fundraising event for families at Pratten Park this March! Why? To help raise $1.1 million for life-changing T1D research, and ultimately turn type 1 into type NONE.
T1D can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed with it every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break, and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.
Please support my walk today.
