In February 2024, our daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a life-changing moment for our family.

Since then, Macy has shown incredible resilience. Overnight, we became carb counters, nurses giving needles, and experts in far too many finger pricks. Macy, at just 6, had no choice but to roll with it and grow up fast. Now at 8, she knows more about her body and her health than most adults do in a lifetime. She even makes the hard choices to sometimes miss out, just to keep her levels in check.

Her day-to-day isn’t always easy, but she never lets it slow her down. Even on little sleep, she’s always moving - school, swimming, footy, gymnastics, and keeping up with her brothers. Activity can affect her blood sugar levels, but thanks to diabetes technology - made possible through research and fundraising - she can keep doing what she loves with the people she loves. We monitor her levels and adjust her insulin alongside her, helping her stay safe, keep smiling, and live life to the fullest.

Inspired by her strength, we’re walking 5km this March to support life-changing type 1 diabetes research. By donating, you’re helping fund research, raise awareness, and support families like ours. Every step brings us closer to a future without type 1 diabetes.
